JCB Utility Products operates in the manufacture of construction and ground care equipment market. The SnakeCam was purchased in January 2009 and has been used for various applications. The most common use for the kit “is for inspection of concealed areas within our machines, for example the inside of telescopic booms that contain hydraulic hoses and fittings and also underneath of the operator’s cab where visual inspection cannot be carried out.”
The SnakeCam has helped improve efficiency “because we can now inspect our machines without the need to remove some body panels to gain access. The ease of use allows any person not familiar with the “snake eye” to be an expert in minutes.”
The main positives of the SnakeCam kit “are its compact size camera for those hard to reach areas and the large clear screen. Being in an industrial environment with oils and chemicals present the tough exterior and oil/chemical resistance make this an ideal robust piece of kit for us. With the added benefit of the camera it gives us a snapshot of what happens inside our systems. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs restricted access inspection.”
An area of improvement for the product “would be an ultra violet camera.
We use a u/v dye in our systems for leak detection; by the introduction of a u/v camera this would certainly help us to inspect those hard to reach joints.”
A UV camera was developed based on the feedback received from JCB. |
